Proposal Title: Counting the Cost, 04/01/2008, Sculpture
Proposal Synopsis: Somewhere on a beach in Iraq, a mountain of old oil barrels, one for each civilian casuality of the war. Each carries some form of identification, a name where this is known, a number where it isn't. From the pile, a linked trail of barrels leads into the sea, disappearing under the surface.
In other countries, the USA, UK, all the countries who have lost armed forces in the war, a similar trail rises out of the sea on remote beaches, leading to smaller piles of barrels. These will all be named; known casualities, documented, their families informed, proper procedures followed.
