Proposal Title: Diamond Monument, 11/24/2007, Web Art

Proposal Synopsis: I have built Diamond Monument as a monument to all the civilian dead of Iraq past and future and installed it over Baghdad on Google Earth. I chose the diamond as a precious gem to represent the value of life. Please feel free to enjoy this monument or participate by downloading this diamond for free from http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=3eedbb7e8709d7f8d991862b50369f2 and relocating it where you will in Iraq. Imagine many diamonds over Iraq perhaps as many as one for every life lost. Artist's Biography: James Hutchinson is a senior lecturer in fine art at the University of Sunderland and an advisor to s/lab. His work has developed alongside the development of computing and new media technologies, and is strongly informed and underscored by drawing. He has an ongoing concern with the cross-over between technology and Art . He has had numerous exhibitions including'Abstraction' Sheffield Millenium Galleries 2007, 'Betweentime' NGC Sunderland 2006, 'Planesong'(AV06) 'Drawn, Baltic Gateshead 2004/5 and Laptop lovers, The ICA 2003/4
