Proposal Title: Impressions that we leave on our world, 10/15/2008, Other
Proposal Synopsis: Whether good or bad, all human actions leave an impression on our world. Some actions leave a more deep seated impression than others. The Iraq war has left one such impression. An action that affects the east and west alike, an action that has left an unforgettable impression in the history of mankind.
The memorial for the Iraq war represents the human impression-the footprint, equal in number to the total casualties in the war. A set of 250 000 different footprints, running through the central verge of different cities across the world. Made of granite, the verge would span approximately four blocks of downtown Chicago and about 5 blocks of London, with signage boards placed at regular intervals to remind people of the impressions that we leave behind on our world.
