Proposal Title: Buddhist Dharma: the Enlightenment and Perfection of Life, 03/19/2008, Painting
Proposal Synopsis: Buddhism is often time misconceived by many people as a mind-my-own-business religion or philosophy that calls for people to detach from their daily life, and Buddhist doctrines may sometimes seem abstract and arcane to many people as well. I attempts to change all that misconceptions by using oil painting on canvas as a medium to communicate to the viewers and help them to better understand the Buddhist spirits and illustrate how Buddhist philosophy could be applied to real life and achieve true enlightenment and perfection.
Artist's Biography: As the third Patriarch of the Buddhist Forshang, I commit myself to glorifying the Buddha dharma of Supreme Huayan and bringing awareness to reflecting upon one's innate Buddha nature. And painting happens to be one of the means by which I fulfill my calling: To illustrate the path to enlightenment and the ultimate truth of the cosmos in colors, lines, and strokes so as to furthermore inspire the viewer to become enlightened. To embody Buddha dharma on canvas with oil has transcended the Western conception of art and eventually developed into a distinctive painting genre, called Totemic Energy Oil Painting.
