Proposal Title: The gate of thousand colors , 03/14/2008, Sculpture
Proposal Synopsis: Place:Central Park,New York,I would choose this location cause in my mind New York is the capital city of the world and the central park the calm place for a memorial.Concept:The memorial is basically a door shaped marble "gate", and inside it is a cube that flows on top of a shallow pool. The gate on the outside should be all in black marble and on it the names of fallen civilians in Iraq (it should look like the common US memorials) so it looks more "western".The inner part of the gate should be all in sapphire and on it verses from Qua-ran all in gold. In the center the shallow pool all in golden, sapphire and white mosaic with its calmness should symbolize the calmness of the souls. Inside the floating cube the word "God is great" in Arabian should be assembled from small colored crystal parts. The reason for the words in the cube is cause whenever a good or bad thing happens to you and in particular in the Middle East, you always call this words "Allahu Ekber".The opening should be oriented towards Mecca so in the morning when the sun sets up the crystal will produce beautiful colors, the meaning of the colored light coming from the crystal should symbolize that- god shines upon everyone no matter age, sex, race, ethnicity.
