Proposal Synopsis: The names of the Iraqi war dead are projected onto the Washington Monument from 4 synchronized video projectors, spiraling down the faces of the structure like water running down a mountain.
An intervention and a video sculpture, the names of the dead spiral down the monument.
This piece could travel, as well, and be executed on other obelisk monuments in the United States and abroad.
Andréa Stanislav is multimedia artist whose body of work includes sculpture, constructions, sound, multichannel video, and installation. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions around the world.
Dreamscapes, landscapes, and the language of film and pop culture are informants in the realization of her multimedia installations and sculptures that attempt to undermine “reality” and reinterpret histories. She empowers the viewer/participant to shape their own narrative within the piece and to contemplate their participation in the ideas and systems that the work suggests and questions.
