Proposal Title: Second Life Memorial, 11/28/2010, Web Art
Proposal Synopsis: Second Life is a 3D virtual online world where people can connect and explore through the many different areas available on the site. My proposal is to create an Iraqi Memorial area in which people may visit, explore, and upload their own stories, poems, pictures of loved ones, etc. The Second Life Memorial will be a place for people to come and celebrate the lives of those who have fallen victim to the war. The memorial will allow people to contribute their own works regarding the Iraq War, and they will be able to share them with the rest of the world. The uploaded materials will go through a screening process before being projected at the memorial. The Second Life Memorial is a place for people to remember and pay their respects, not for people to share their own political viewpoint. There will also be an area for people to buy virtual flowers to leave at the memorial, and the $L will be converted to US$ and donated to the Armed Forces Relief Trust, which provides relief to the families of soldiers.
